CMCC RUN/WALK FOR CHIROPRACTIC EDUCTION & RESEARCH

APRIL 18, 2001

The CMCC Run on April 18 was a great success!.  We had more pre-registrations than in any previous year and everything went smoothly.  The weather was beautiful!  It started off not too warm, just right for running and walking and got warmer and clearer as the day went on.

It looks like the Board of Governors won the competition over the Administrative Staff to bring in the most donations.  As well, the Governors had a side bet on with Dr. Scott Haldeman.  He  bet that he could beat the other walkers and the 10 K runners on the Board of Governors and come in under 45 minutes walking the 5 K.  He won and we all had to pay $50.00 each.

Dr. David Gryfe donated bagels from his family’s Bagel shop for the post Run/Walk refreshments.  Man, they are good bagels!  What a treat.

Four years ago, as we were getting ready to start the Run/Walk, a large bus pulled up to the College and out poured a lot of young teenagers.  They were from Iowa and were in town for a band competition.  A smart teacher decided that it would be a good idea to tire them out a bit before their long drive home, so signed them up for the Run.  They had a great  time, we were happy to have so many other enthusiastic participants, and they won a few prizes so they were happy.

This year, we were getting ready for the run, and a big bus pulls up.  Here are the kids from Iowa again!  Well, actually they were different kids, but from the same school, and they had come to the same competition – I guess it happens every four years – so the teacher had signed them up again!  I know they filmed an interview with the kids.  It would be neat if they could post it on the CMCC webpage at www.cmcc.ca

Thank you every one for your support.  CMCC and everyone there – students, teachers, researchers, staff and support – appreciate your contributions.  The College is not only a great educational institute, but an invaluable resource to chiropractors, the associations that serve them and to patients across Canada.
